Harkaway Hills College
Harkaway Hills College is an independent school that teaches its students the Catholic faith. In 2022, we will provide co-educational foundation classes from Grade 2 classes and girls who are single starting in Grade 3 through 7. Every year we will begin an additional year level up the year 12. Boys who are in Grade 3 or over will transfer to our sister school Lysterfield Lake College (subject to VRQA registration) It is just a minute’s drive away, right next to the beautiful Lysterfield Lake Park.
The College is a program by the Parents for Education (PARED) Victoria Foundation and is built on the belief that the parents should be the most important educators, and that schools are there to provide parents with all the support they need. This is evident in the high quality of the curriculum for academics and in the way staff collaborates with students and parents through a unique mentoring program, with a focus on character development and virtues throughout the curriculum as well as in the desire that the school’s staff and peers be supportive and positive for parents. The school and the home are both united. The school and home provide ongoing support to parents as well as a range of programs designed to aid parents in being more efficient.
We are very focused upon the cultivation of moral virtues that are seen as good behavior as the fundamental elements of character. When we build character strengths such as good judgment, self-control and courage as well as respect towards others, students are more able to exercise their independence to make best decisions in their lives. Moral and civic virtues are cultivated.
Like the others PARED institutions, the instruction that we provide is highly personalized. The teachers of the school, every student has a dedicated mentor who is always there to help through example, guidance and friendship. The mentor is regularly in contact with the student during the course of the term and also with the child’s parents at least every term to discuss the progress made, aiding in goals, and also coordinating the activities provided by the College on parents on behalf of the parents.
Future development
We use the highly effective model, which is currently operating within Sydney PARED schools. Sydney PARED schools. These schools was established in 1982. Girls and boys schools are located in close each other. The classes from Foundation to Year 2 are co-educational, and after that girls and boys are separated into single-sex classes.
As the College expands and expands, we are currently developing and expanding our stunning seven-hectare campus at Harkaway Hills College in semi-rural Narre Warren North. We receive a capital grant by the Commonwealth government to help us build the permanent construction of buildings.
