Victorian Registration Standards (Sch2Cl 16; CECV Guidelines Ref.1.4) require that all schools have a clear statement regarding their philosophy.
Mary MacKillop primary school believes that student safety, security, learning, and success is dependent upon their physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, moral, and spiritual well-being. We are committed:
-
- Our students receive the best education possible and are able to realize their full potential.
- We offer the best academic environment. We provide support for each student’s learning, as well as ensuring that students can learn in a supportive environment, free of bullying, harassment, distractions, etc.
- The pastoral and emotional care of every student. We offer support, such as education and support on resilience and mental illness, to help students achieve this.
- We encourage each student’s success in their areas of interest. We make sure to accommodate every student’s needs and allow them to find the right balance between curricular and non-curricular activities.
- We encourage leadership among all our students. We offer activities and programs to encourage students to lead among peers.
- Students are encouraged to be active and live a healthy lifestyle. To achieve this, we offer education on healthy living habits and encourage sports and other recreational activities.
Our philosophy is expressed through our care for and teaching of students. This philosophy guides all aspects of teaching, governance and strategic planning.
