After more than 20 years of private practice, Mark Eibl founded the PhysioFit Berwick clinic in 2016.
Mark lives in Upper Beaconsfield and provides physiotherapy services to the community of Berwick since 2003. He also consults from Hampton Park Physiotherapy. Mark specializes in sports injuries, spinal injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal disorders.
The newly renovated clinic at Berwick’s 197 High Street is located near Akoonah Park. It is also opposite Haileybury. This clinic is on the service road between Cardinia Street and Manuka Road. Our clinic is conveniently located in Berwick, Beaconsfield, Cardinia, and surrounding communities. We also offer ample parking.

Podiatry – Akoonah Podiatry
Graeme Wilson, Akoonah Podiatry, is available Tuesdays through Fridays. You can make an appointment by calling the clinic. Graeme is also a BUPA Members First provider.
Podiatry can treat a variety of foot conditions, including those affecting the lower leg, knee and hip, as well as the back. A podiatrist can help with heel pain. Temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction
The most commonly used joint in the body is the Temporomandibular (TMJ), located in the jaw. It is used when we eat, talk, breathe, and use our faces to express emotions and feelings.
TMJ dysfunction (also Temporomandibular disorder (TMD), is when something goes wrong with this vital joint.
TMJ dysfunction can cause jaw pain and tenderness in some people, but not all. These are the most common symptoms:
- When moving, clicking or popping of grinding the jaws
- Restricted opening of jaws and/or
- Inability to fully close the jaw
- Headaches
TMD sufferers frequently clench and grind their teeth, and often experience headaches, ear dizziness, upper neck pain, and facial pain. TMJ dysfunction can also cause ringing in the ears or tinnitus.
TMJ disorders can be caused by a variety of factors, such as bruxism (nocturnal grinding), poor bite (under or overbite), and upper cervical joint dysfunctions. Treatments such as orthodontics (e.g. TMJ dysfunction can also be caused by orthodontic treatment (e.g., prolonged mouth opening or removal of wisdom teeth). TMJ dysfunction can also be caused by neuropsychological factors such as stress, whiplash, and trauma (e.g. blow to the face), infection, arthritic conditions and tumours, as well as anatomical abnormalities.

How can TMJ dysfunction be treated?
The physiotherapist will diagnose the specific type of TMJ disorder and either start corrective treatment or refer you to the best TMJ specialist.
PhysioFit Berwick’s physiotherapists are specialists in treating TMJ ‘opening disorder’. However, a referral may be required to a dentist for management of ‘closing disorders,’ such as locked jaw, or to treat underlying causes like teeth grinding (bruxism).
Following a thorough TMJ evaluation, the TMJ exercises and treatment may include:
- Neck treatment and posture improvement
- Relaxation exercises; Passive, active-assisted, or active exercises ; TMJ stabilisation exercises
- Massage or muscle lengthening
